Institute for Project Defaults

Course Character

Modules

  • Prerequisites: interest, attention and the willingness to grasp the business field
  • Course language: German; content of slides: English
  • Lectures by your instructor; sometimes interrupted for 10-15 minutes for cases, dialogues and “group discussions
  • Lecture slides will be tackled selectively!
  • Lectures by guest speakers with subsequent discussions
  • After lecture: instructor’s availability for questions, individual talks or discussions

Slides

  • Not according to “good presentation practice” – often much text - with referral to “standard” reference book (for further reading – no prior reading)
  • Rationale:
    • You will be confronted with a special language (“business administration”) with special terms you are generally not familiar with (intentional redundancies!)
    • Therefore, slides require text (including also full sentences) with explanatory character and the proper context (rather than a focused occurrence of  terms’ listings and short text) – “self-sufficient slides
  • Slides provided as paper handouts (2 slides per page) for marking and to make notes complementing the slide content (or term translations) to create an individually “annotated presentation”.
